Christmas stories and Favors?

Well it's that time of year again... what time you ask? Christmas! The Christmas season is everywhere... Whether you turn on the TV, Walk through the mall, Or visit a local Starbucks (had to throw that in) you see Christmas everywhere on Display! And i'm cool with that. This is my favorite time of year. All though the true sigificance can often be lost in all the marketing, we know that Christmas is really about the birth of our Lord Jesus and this leads us to celebrate!
This past Sunday at Deeper, we talked about grace and studied how grace doesn't JUST bring forgiveness, but that it is what EMPOWERS us as Christians to live Godly lives (Titus 2:11-14). I know I am constantly challenged by this truth and i hope the same rings true for you! This week at Deeper we are going to be looking over "The Christmas Story." I want us to put on a different set of lenses and look at the whole Christmas event through a different set of eyes. We will look at the life of Mary, a teenage girl, who found Favor with God and was thus used by God to reveal His Glory to the world! Luke 1:26 will be our bible passage! In the Protestant church we don't talk about Mary a whole lot, but i think this will be a good study for us and will definately challenge how we view the holidays and what they mean for us! I'm looking forward to this week!
This week as well at M:180 Deeper we have the privilege of hosting a Christmas banquet here at the church. I've already spoken with you about this and if you can commit please let me, Pastor Jason, the interns, Nicole, etc... know ASAP! This will begin at 5pm on Saturday at the church, until about 9-10ish.. look for an email by Thursday! So yeah, things are getting busy im sure for all of you and Christmas is on the horizon! I'm looking forward to our weeks together before christmas break! I hope everyone is having a great week and here's the M:180 Deeper schedule for December in case you forget:
Saturday December 2: M:180 Christmas Banquet Hosting/Serving!
Sunday December 3, 2006: M:180 Deeper: The Christmas Story Study
Sunday December 10, 2006: NO M:180 Deeper = CANCELLED for LHPA Christmas Banquet
Sunday December 17, 2006: M:180 Deeper Holiday wrap-up! Gathering and Fellowship!
M:180 will not run on Sunday Dec.24 and Dec.31 for obvious reasons... we will resume in January!
God bless all of you, hope you have a great week and see ya on the weekend...

Hey, Jordo, I'm lookin forward to deeper on sunday and helpin at the banquet. It's always fun. Anyway I had a good day today and thanx for lunch I can remeber if I said so I am makin sure now. I catch you on saturday.
Well, Pastor Jordan, this blog makes me wish I could be there to hear about it. I mean Christmas time always comes a long and I find it hard not to get caught up in the way media creates the holiday. Church does not fall under an important part of my families tradition and I wish it did. Sometimes I get so angry with the way media has twisted the holiday that I wish it wasn't one. I mean don't get me wrong presents are great but it's about so much more.

Hey Pastor Jordan, wish I could have made it out sunday night, sounds like it would have been a good lesson. But so much stuff to do, and not enough time. I will be sure to come out on the 17th. And look forward to it in the new year aswell.
But I am excited for Christmas. We are already decorating, got the tree up, have all my Christmas shopping done, and there is ALOT of snow out there.
