Be-Attitudes....

Hopefully someone gets a kick out of that bookmark! This week we will be talking about "mourning", but maybe not to the extent as the picture portrays! Last week we started our series titled, "Be-Attitudes!" We talked about how our faith is a journey and that we must keep on moving. We also discussed the first Beatitude found in Matthew 5:3. It deals with coming to that point where we recognize how much we need God in all areas of life!
This week we will look at what i find to be the most difficult beatitude... it has to do with mourning... and for some reason people who mourn are blessed? I've always found times of mourning to carry the opposite feeling... but Jesus knows far better than any of us... so there must be TRUTH to it! Come out and let's tackle this one together!
We start as usual at 6.... Bring a Bible, a loonie/twoonie, and your cheerful self! No pun intended! Hope to see ya then!

Red Letters.

It's amazing how fast the year is moving along, we are well into March and we were into snow melting time, however the ugly weather outside right now would say otherwise. Last week at Gen church we had a great time of prayer and were challenged in the word. A good time was had!
This week we are going to delve deeper into the "Red Letters" of the Gospel. I am convinced that we all need to get to that point where we are passionate seekers of God and what He has for us! This needs to invade all spheres of life. It seems easy for us, in our culture to compartementalize our lives in certain ways. We allow faith to have it's time on Friday nights and Sunday's, but how often are we guilty of letting it take a back seat to other matters during the rest of the week?
The word of God must guide our paths and we must be committed to seeking it's truth and living in it. The John 8:31-32 challenge stands before us and we decide what to do with it? Will we neglect our journey, or will we allow the TRUTH to really set us free? Those verses have really hit me lately! Look them up! We all desire freedom and truth in our walks, but how often than none do we allow other things to dominate our lives? Will God's Word get it's proper place?
The teachings of Jesus can often seem very foreign in our culture and i promise you they won't appear to be the most natural way to live, but for those who press on, John 8:31-32 is your promise! There is no better way to LIVE!
So come on out this Sunday at 6, as we get into the words of Jesus and see what He would say to us! Please bring a Bible, maybe some paper and a loonie/twoonie if you remember! God bless, look forward to seeing you all!

Sin.

We started a talk on sin 4 weeks ago and that has been how long it has been since we had a deeper night! I miss our night's and look forward to resuming. This week, there is a service going on in the church called "Mostly Music." So we will not meet in our usual location in the sanctuary, rather we will meet in the foyer by 6 and then go upstairs, so if you're late we are upstairs...
I know it's been a long stretch of no deeper nights, but i want to encourage you to come out on Sunday and bring your bible's and even a notebook. I feel God is calling His children everywhere to be passionate seekers of Him and we get to know Him better through His word! This week we will finish up (hopefully) our talk on sin and go deeper into this topic. We will look at area's such as: Why do i so easily give into sin? Why is some sin easier to fall into than others? Will i struggle with sin all my life? What does repentance mean and how is that worked out in my life? etc...
I think you'll find the talk very interesting... so if anyone still reads this, i hope to see you all out on Sunday! God Bless...
